The End of the Line

Thank you to everybody who has read, used and interacted with this blog the last year and a half (or so). This particular site will not be updated again, at least not for a while; Battling the Behemoth, however, will be; and as soon as circumstances allow I will likely resume this format on Wordpress, or possibly at a new blog here. It's been a fun and edifying experience for me, and, I hope, for one or two of you as well.

The archive will remain open for anybody who wishes to revisit it. For now, friends: goodnight.

There's gonna be some trouble...

Dogged Days

Oxford-based man of the stars Ellis Taylor has just announced the title of his latest book: Dogged Days, a memoir of just some of the highly unusual events which seem to dog his footsteps. I'm moved to remark upon this, not only because I know Ellis and have followed his unique research for years, but because this title- whilst not initially striking- resonates with me in a way which is deep and profound.

Throughout much of the summer just passed I had a redolent phrase germinating in my head, which seemed to sum up all of my malaise and dreams. Dog Dakota Days: evoking images of the last days of Lennon, gothic New York, Sirius Rising and the Black Dog. Then this morning I awoke in my brother's Brighton apartment and find a colour supplement open at the games section. A series of photographs spelling out a phrase, all of which are connected in some cryptic way. The first one I look at begins with a photo of Snoop Doggy DOG, juxtaposed against the only mildly less threatening visage of Darren DAY. The complete phrase was actually: Dog Day Afternoon, a gangster flick apparently.

A wonderful title; if it hadn't been done already, I might well use it myself. (Dog Day Afternoon.) Dog Day Evening, the Twilight of the Banshees, perhaps?

These are indeed dogged days, for each one of us. The relentless hold exercised over our spirits by the rulers of this world order, though weakening, is still strong. Still we are hemmed and penned, obliged to exchange our true nature in order to doggedly strive in a world largely defined by greed and might. Such an existence, dominated by those of a canine- or Canaanite- disposition is indeed little more than a daze: a waking trance, an assault on the senses. But know too that it is but days before all this will finally be transmuted: when the fag-butt of the dying Kali Yuga is transformed by the light of the Dogstar Herself: Queen Sirius, Isis. Maria.

Insolvency tourism

'The business area of New York has turned into a tourist Mecca. Thousands of tourists come to New York to see the consequences of the financial crisis.

New York’s oldest business area reminded a carnival last Friday, TourGenius.ru reports. Wall Street has never seen so many tourists, reporters, students, hot dog sellers and policemen. A street musician was playing the tune of Elvis Presley’s Amazing Grace, thinking that the melancholic melody would match the atmosphere of the street best.

The crowd gathered on Wall Street because of the stock market crisis. Many tourists said that they came to the street to see how the financial world was going to change.

A Swedish guide was telling his tourists that they could witness the historical event, when the United States lost its prestige and leading positions and gave way to a whole number of other counties with, for example, China among them.

Chinese tourists were also present at the funeral ceremony of the American economy. Their guide extended the standard excursion of New York (the Central Park, the ruins of Twin Towers, Time Square) with Wall Street.'

Another victim of the 'MM' sigil...

'A British girl aged five was fighting for her life in hospital last night after plunging 30 feet from a hotel balcony in Majorca.

Millianne Marklew was on the first day of a family holiday when she is believed to have fallen from the third floor as she played.

She suffered multiple injuries and was taken to intensive care in the island's main hospital where her parents Mairead, 38, a manicurist, and 40-year-old Adam, a supermarket worker, are keeping vigil.'

Return of the Elder Gods? III

'Scientists have reached back in time 115 million years to one of the most successful flying creatures in Earth’s history to conjure a robotic spy plane with next-generation capabilities.

They are attempting to mimic the physical and biological characteristics of the pterosaur Tapejara wellnhofer including skin, blood vessels, muscles, tendons, nerves, cranial plate, and skeletal structure.

The scientists hope the unmanned aerial vehicle, known as the Pterodrone, will not only fly but also walk and sail just like the original.'

'The most human-like robot every created...'

'Japanese researchers have created a life-like robot, based on a five-year-old girl.

The robogirl, Repliee R-1, looks, moves and interacts like a human, and has silicone skin that feels almost human to the touch.

The robot can blink, look around and even nod its head. It has pigtails, which have inspired comparisons with the boy robot David in Steven Spielberg's 2001 hit Artificial Intelligence.'

'Earliest references describes Christ as 'magician'...'

'A team of scientists led by renowned French marine archaeologist Franck Goddio recently announced that they have found a bowl, dating to between the late 2nd century B.C. and the early 1st century A.D., that is engraved with what they believe could be the world's first known reference to Christ.

If the word "Christ" refers to the Biblical Jesus Christ, as is speculated, then the discovery may provide evidence that Christianity and paganism at times intertwined in the ancient world.

The full engraving on the bowl reads, "DIA CHRSTOU O GOISTAIS," which has been interpreted by the excavation team to mean either, "by Christ the magician" or, "the magician by Christ."'

'Kate Moss gold statue unveiled at British Museum...'

'A lifesize gold statue of Kate Moss as a "modern-day Aphrodite" with her legs tucked behind her head has been unveiled at the British Museum.

Siren is made entirely of 18 carat gold and will be displayed in the museum's Nereid Gallery among statues of Greek goddesses including Aphrodite.

It is the largest gold statue made by man since ancient Egyptian times, weighing 50kg, around the same as its subject.

Artist Marc Quinn, whose previous works include the sculpture of a pregnant woman with no arms or legs that now sits on the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, said Siren cost £1.5m to make, £1m of which was the price of the gold.

He expects it to fetch up to £10m when it is sold following its time with the British Museum in January.

Speaking at the unveiling, Mr Quinn said he saw Miss Moss, who posed for him for a day though not in the position of the statue, as a "modern day Aphrodite".

"For Kate, she thinks it lifts into her into a mythical level," he said.

... With the price of the statue's material soaring in the current financial crisis, Mr Quinn said his Siren's unveiling was timely.

"Why should gold be worth lots and steel not?" he said.

"It's because we have agreed it represents something special in our society.

"If there was a war or anarchy this will be melted down and turned into bullion, so it's a canary in a cage down a mineshaft."'

More on yesterday's UFO sighting

From two e-mails I sent yesterday to Henrik Palmgren, of Red Ice Creations:

'Hi Henrik, just thought you might be interested to know I had a semi-Close Encounter this morning with a craft of unknown origin. It was big, of a very unusual shape; clearly signalled its desire to be seen; acknowledged my attention; and disappeared (or moved at great speed) shortly afterwards. It was silent, eerie... and had the feeling of an organic materialisation, rather than a plain machine.

It was extremely weird. What makes it even more so is the fact that I had spent the last five or so hours immersed in a book by Whitley Strieber: unquestionably the most famous 'abductee' on earth. (Or not.)

I had felt a low level 'presence' in my room for most of this time. I had a tune repeating in my head- 'Shine On you Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd; and the four-note 'theme' which runs like a motif throughout the whole song. I don't usually stay up until past five am reading, but the book was very compelling, and my nervousness was such that I didn't feel ready to try to sleep.

It was less than a minute after finally putting the book down that the craft hovered into view. I was lying in bed, and the only part of the sky which was accessible to vision was exactly where it chose to hover. It drew sufficiently low to the ground that I was able to perceive the shape of the craft: it was not a classic saucer, nor a triangle: but appeared to have two discrete 'levels.' Its lights were powerful, and attracted my attention to that spot.

Now, I regularly scan the skies for craft. But within less than a minute of seeing this thing I was experiencing intense feelings of shock and awe that no other 'light in the sky' or aeroplane has been able to generate. It was so thoroughly anomalous I could barely stand to watch it for much more than a minute. Once it had attracted my attention, it then rose higher into the sky, and manoeuvred into an area of the canopy more central to my now standing position. It then proceeded to treat me to a signalling light show that lasted perhaps ten to fifteen seconds. It seemed playful, child-like, and thoroughly 'other.' Throughout this time it was 'bobbing' in the sky, in a classic 'falling leaf' formation.

I am still shaking and not particularly looking forward to nightfall! Think I might draw the curtains this time.

This was over my parent's house in the London Borough of Bromley. If you could direct me to any UK UFO organisations I would be pleased to submit a witness report.

First Contact

This morning, at about 0545 hrs, I witnessed a large UFO hovering over my home town.

Much more to follow on BTB anon.
