My prayers...

... go out for the soul of Mr Jackson. From one fellow 'visitor' to another: I wish thee well.

OMG what is going on? RIP Michael Jackson.

I heard Farrah also died today and now there are reports about Jeff Goldblum?

Jeff Goldblum story isn't yet confirmed. One website which reported his death has taken it down, apologies.

This is an extract from an email from a friend of mine. She gives such a good account of Michael Jackson's story:

There is something so tragic about Jacko - even though I know so little about him. I had heard that he was abused by his father but have no idea whether this was physical, sexual, emotional or "fame" (as in "you're going to be a star or else") abuse. Perhaps it was even a fancy notion he had to explain himself, for nothing would surprise me, either way, about Jacko.

But he is an example of how boundaries have dissolved and not with good outcomes. It appears he didn't like being black or the negroid features that went with it but in his quest for something whiter he sure didn't look white either. Cripes, he didn't even look human! The sad thing is, as the "Elephant Man" could have warned him, if you don't look human, you probably won't get treated as human. Not that celebrities are ever treated as humans, stardom being something else again.

But there is also the loss of boundaries between innocence and something much more sinister. At times I felt that Jacko wasn't so much "pulling a swifty" (although he may have been) but he'd honestly lost all sense of reality. He was off with the fairies. And really I don't know if they were fairies or "fairies"! ...

He's just a weird, weird person - or was. But he wouldn't have been able to be that weird if fame and celebrityhood didn't let him. Indeed I'm sure it contributed to moulding him that monstrous way. Even the mechanical (yet so precisely synchronised) way he danced (and there is something appealing about his moondance) speaks of not-quite-human. His cosmetic surgery made him so different and his movements suggested cyborg as much as his altered body did. Anyone interested in the dissolution of boundaries just has to be interested in Jacko.
